By definition, CNC machining is the controlled automation of machining procedures through the use of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. A CNC machine precisely controls a piece of material at high speeds to meet precise specifications by following a pre-programmed predetermined command and with no operator directly manipulating the operation. All these are done with great efficiency since the CNC machines have the capability to perform hundreds of tasks in parallel and this leads to cost reductions in various areas.

Apart from being able to perform these jobs faster than humans, CNC machines also produce parts that are stronger, more durable, and last longer than those that are made manually. This is because the CNC machining process eliminates the requirement for precise tools such as hand saws, lathes, etc., thereby leading to better machining results, greater flexibility, and more efficient work pieces. The efficiency of CNC machines has resulted in huge cost savings in material and labor thus ensuring profitability for companies involved in manufacturing parts and components.
